Prosecuting Attorney Steve Alm held a press conference on June 24, 2025, regarding an officer-involved shooting that occurred on June 23, 2023 in the area of Kalauipo Street in Pearl City. The outcome of the Prosecuting Attorney’s investigation was that the use of force which resulted in the death of Nathaniel Taualai was justified. No charges will be filed against any of the three Honolulu Police officers who used deadly force in the course of this incident.
