Prosecuting Attorney Steve Alm held a press conference on July 22, 2025, regarding an officer-involved shooting that occurred on December 8-9, 2022 on the fifth floor at the Ohia Waikiki Studio Suites, located at 2280 Kuhio Avenue. The outcome of the Prosecuting Attorney’s investigation was that the use of force which resulted in the death of Benjamin Moralez was justified. No charges will be filed against the two Honolulu Police officers who used deadly force in the course of this incident.
